Purpose

To promote the art of Pastel Painting through education, demonstrations and member exhibitions throughout the state of Colorado and work in collaboration with other member societies of IAPS nationwide.

Society History and Activities

The Pastel Society of Colorado was organized by a small group of six artists in 1994. The group encouraged artists from every level of skill and expertise. They would meet six times a year for demonstrations and planning meetings for the annual member exhibition. We now have members that meet in two regions of Colorado, one in the Grand Junction area, and the other in the front range area. The Grand Junction group meets the third Saturday of every month at the Western Colorado Center for the Arts. The front range group meets the second Saturday of every month at 1:00 in the Art Students League in Denver. Both share friendships, information on pastel supplies, demos, and methods to promote sales. The membership has grown from a small handful of artists to over 200 members. The society is a 501(c)3 (non-profit) organization.
