My art experiences started in Ohio, where I grew up as an only child. Creating was something I could do alone on cold winter days, of which there were many.

I obtained a minor in “studio art” as they called it in the ’70s, concentrating on drawing and design. I dabbled at watercolor in the ’70s, took a hiatus from art in the ’80s, then picked up pastel in the late ’90s after moving to Texas.

Like many pastelists I, too, love the immediacy of pastel. I have taken a number of pastel workshops over the past ten years to improve my skills and learn new techniques. Lately I have been doing pastel demonstrations for local art groups. My love is the landscape, and that is my focus. My challenge is to interpret what I see in a sensitive manner. It’s not an easy task, but the endeavor continues.
