Diana De Santis
The trickle of sunlight that starts a new day, the orange and lavender colors of dusk that end it, the energy of a young person, the compassion in a lined face, are all excitements that motivate a painting.
Articles about Diana’s work have appeared in The Pastel Journal and in American Artist magazine. Her paintings were included in The Best Of Pastel 1998 & 1996 editions and Pastel Impressions, 1997, by Rockport Publishers. She was the featured artist in Verbania, Italy in 2005 and her landscape paintings were on exhibit in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia. One of Diana’s portraits was in a five year Smith Kramer exhibition and was shown in 14 museums nationally. Her portrait of Augusta Gulden, the mustard heiress, hangs in the Gulden Memorial Pavilion in Southside Hospital, Bayshore, New York.
Diana is an official Coast Guard artist. Her name is listed in Who’s Who In American Art. She has had ten solo shows and received fifteen gold medals and over 250 awards, Most prominent, Society of Illustrators, The Norman Rockwell Museum Award and the Anne Hyatt Huntington Horse’s Head.
Diana is a Master Pastelist, Pastel Society of America, a Fellow of the American Artist Professional League, a member of the Master Circle, IAPS, and of Allied Artists of America, Audubon Artists, Hudson Valley Art Association, Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and the Portrait Society of America.
